A native or resident of the Northwest Territories’ capital city, Yellowknife, is called a *Yellowknifer*. While this demonym is found in newspapers and magazines, it is often replaced in more formal writing by *native, resident* or *inhabitant of Yellowknife*, or some similar phrase.

- Yellowknifers (*or* The people of Yellowknife) celebrate the summer solstice with a festival called Raven Mad Daze.
- Nancy was born in Toronto but has been a Yellowknifer (*or* has lived in Yellowknife) for twenty years.

*Yellowknife* is commonly used as a modifier, while *Yellowknifer* is not.

- The Yellowknife fireworks display on Canada Day cannot start before midnight because it is not dark enough!
