Le verbe accidenter fait double emploi avec les verbes blesser et renverser, qu’il faut privilégier. On dira :
- Le conducteur, ivre, a blessé deux enfants. (plutôt que : Le conducteur, ivre, a accidenté deux enfants.)
Employé comme nom ou comme adjectif en parlant d’une voiture ou d’une personne qui a été victime d’un accident, accidenté est admis sans réserve ou considéré comme familier par les dictionnaires qui le consignent :
- Le nombre d’accidentés du travail augmente chaque année.
- Un piéton accidenté était étendu dans la rue.
