Il est fautif d’employer bleu marin comme adjectif de couleur. Il faut plutôt employer bleu marine, l’adjectif bleu se rapportant au substantif marine (bleu « de la marine »). Cet adjectif de couleur composé est invariable :
- Lou porte une chemise bleu marine (et non : une chemise bleu marin).
- Les architectes conduisent des camions bleu marine (et non : des camions bleu marin).
On rencontre parfois marine employé seul :
- Les pantalons marine ne se démodent pas.
