En principe, on emploie le terme boisson alcoolique pour parler du produit de la fermentation :
- Le gin est une boisson alcoolique.
- Ma boisson alcoolique préférée est le vin.
Une boisson alcoolisée est une boisson à laquelle on a ajouté de l’alcool. Toutefois, dans l’usage courant, boisson alcoolisée tend à supplanter boisson alcoolique pour désigner toute boisson contenant de l’alcool :
- Le jus d’orange additionné de champagne est une boisson alcoolisée.
- Ne laissez pas un inconnu vous préparer une boisson alcoolisée.
