Quoique le terme carte d’affaires soit largement répandu au Canada, il est souvent considéré comme un calque de l’anglais business card. La plupart des ouvrages canadiens hésitent à l’accepter.
Il est préférable d’employer plutôt :
- carte professionnelle
- carte de visite professionnelle
- carte commerciale
- carte de représentant (le cas échéant)
- carte (elliptiquement)
- carte de visite (terme « vieilli » d’après certains dictionnaires européens, mais attesté au Canada)
