Le mot couverte au sens de « couverture » est considéré comme un archaïsme en Europe.

On l’emploie encore au Canada dans des contextes familiers, mais dans la langue soutenue, on lui préfère couverture.

  • Elle a tricoté une belle couverture de laine. (plutôt que : une couverte de laine)
