L’ellipse de la préposition de est admise après les noms début et fin dans des expressions comme fin 98, début 2001, fin janvier :
- Il a démissionné fin 2000.
- J’irai les voir fin mars.
- C’était vers la fin février.
On peut aussi évidemment garder la préposition de :
- Il a démissionné à la fin de 2000.
- J’irai les voir à la fin de mars.
- C’était vers la fin de février.
