Employé à la forme pronominale, le verbe échanger possède uniquement le sens d’« être l’objet d’échanges » :
- Des centaines de vœux s’échangent durant la période des Fêtes.
Puisque échanger suppose une réciprocité, on dit :
- Julie et Marc échangent des livres, des vœux, des impressions.
C’est un pléonasme d’employer s’échanger dans ce sens.
