Le genre donné au nom escompte par la plupart des ouvrages est masculin.
Un escompte s’applique uniquement à une remise faite sur une facture réglée avant la date d’échéance.
Dans les autres cas, on emploie le mot rabais :
- Obtenez un rabais de 25 p. 100 sur toutes les chaussures en magasin. (et non : Obtenez un escompte…)
