La « personne qui reçoit ou accueille » se nomme un hôte ou une hôtesse. Il faut éviter d’employer une hôte dans ce sens.
On appelle la « personne qui est reçue ou accueillie » un hôte ou une hôte (et non une hôtesse), quoique ces termes tendent à vieillir. On dira plutôt un invité ou une invitée.
