Dans la langue de l’administration, le terme est vieilli ou est considéré comme un anglicisme pour traduire officer.
On le remplace, selon le contexte, par :

- dirigeant, dirigeante
- fonctionnaire
- agent, agente
- préposé, préposée
- responsable
