On peut placer une virgule après or si l’on désire appuyer sur la conjonction ou si cette dernière est à la tête d’une phrase assez longue. La virgule se trouve alors à reproduire la pause qui serait, dans pareil cas, observée à l’oral :
- Or, la directrice ne pouvait pas avoir lu le rapport, puisqu’elle en ignorait l’existence.
Placé au début d’une phrase courte, or peut s’employer sans virgule :
- Or il se trouve que j’ai raison.
