Le tour s’en référer à est à éviter; il résulte d’une confusion des tours en référer à et se référer à.
On dit plutôt en référer à. Il a le sens de « en appeler à, faire rapport à, s’en remettre à, s’en rapporter à, avoir recours à ». Il s’emploie lorsqu’il faut prendre une décision :
- Avant d’accepter l’invitation, nous devons en référer à nos parents.
- Mathieu doit en référer à son patron.
