The final e in a word is generally dropped before adding the suffix -able. However, when a word ends in -ee, both e’s are retained, as in agreeable.
- If all parties are agreeable, the project will begin next month.
- Swimming is agreeable in this hot, sticky weather.
- Heavy metal music is not agreeable to my ear.
- Henri’s suggestion to implement a recycling program at work was agreeable to all.
