all-time record

Redundancies are words that repeat information unnecessarily. Since a record already includes the idea of all time (or all recorded time, at least), the expression all-time record is redundant.

  • Redundant: Canada’s all-time record for coldest temperature is −62.8°C, set in Snag, Yukon, in February 1947.
  • Recommended: Canada’s record for coldest temperature is −62.8°C, set in Snag, Yukon, in February 1947.
