Dyeing, spelled with an e, means “colouring.”

  • Pat began dyeing her hair when it started to turn gray.
  • The Ojibwe people used larkspur flowers and blueberries for dyeing.

Dying, spelled without the e, means “approaching death.”

  • The wounded animal lay dying in the forest.
