To learn is to acquire knowledge or skills. The past tense of learn is learned or learnt.
- He learned to play the flute quickly.
- Sarah learnt her lesson; she won’t do that again.
To teach is to help others gain knowledge or skills.
- I taught my brother how to swim.
Do not use learn as a synonym for teach.
- Dad taught (not learned) my sister how to drive.
