ole-, oleo-

The combining form ole- or oleo- means “oil.”

  • The sunflower is an oleaginous plant: oil can be extracted from it.
  • Oleic acid is a colourless, odourless oil.
  • “Rosemary oil extract” is another name for rosemary oleoresin.
